'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' of the first edition sold for almost $35,000

The book "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" was sold at auction by Hansons Auctioneers for 28.5 thousand pounds sterling.

"The first volume of the Harry Potter story, bought on the Staffordshire layout for only 1 pound, created its magic, ensuring the fulfillment of the owner's dream," the report says.

According to the auction house, the first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" of 1997 sold on July 31, the birthday of Harry Potter and the author JK Rowling. The total price paid for the book, including VAT, was £34,200. Three participants of the telephone auction were fighting for the lot.

The owner, a 54-year-old office worker who didn't want to give his name, said: "I can't believe it. I was hoping for it, but I never believed that my book was so expensive."

This book once belonged to the Staffordshire library, and it was marked "removed from the stock." The owner came across it about 20 years ago and bought it for reading on vacation. Then she lay in the closet for years.

Errors can identify the fact that this is the first edition.

The owner did not expect to receive so much - he hoped to collect the amount needed for a new bathroom.
